One body of knowledge, three ways to use it
We turn a subject into a book, a portal and a dataset.
Most publishers stop at the book. Most agencies stop at the website. Helpora researches a subject once, then produces all three outputs from the same source material — so the book, the portal it lives on, and the data other people license from it stay consistent with each other.
How the three fit together
The research is the asset. Each output is a different way of selling it, and each one feeds the next.
Research the subject
We gather, verify and structure the material once — as a database, not as chapters. Everything after this is a view of it.
Publish the book
The edited, authored account. It earns the subject its credibility and puts your name in shops, libraries and reviews.
Run the portal
A book is fixed on the day it prints. The portal is where the same material stays current, searchable and open to subscribers.
License the data
The structured research itself sells again as reports, feeds or API access to organisations that need it inside their own systems.
Each output pays for the next. Book sales bring readers to the portal; portal subscribers tell us what the data is worth; licensing revenue funds the next edition of the book.
What each line involves
Book publishing
Commissioning and editorial, copy-editing, typesetting, cover design, ISBN registration, print and ebook production, and distribution into UK retail and library channels.
Web portals
Content portals and directories designed, built and operated end to end: search, structured taxonomies, editorial workflow, subscriber accounts, hosting and moderation.
Information services
Research and data collection, cleaning and verification, reference datasets, and licensed information products delivered as reports, scheduled feeds or API access.
What that looks like in practice
A worked example of one subject moving through all three lines over eighteen months.
A reference title is commissioned
We build the underlying record set first, then write to it. The manuscript and the database are produced together rather than one from the other.
The portal goes live alongside print
Buyers of the book get portal access, where the records are updated continuously and searchable in ways a printed index cannot manage.
The dataset is licensed onward
Organisations that want the records inside their own tools license a feed. That revenue is what funds the second edition.
Where you might come in
You do not have to want all three. Most projects start at one point and grow into the others once the material is structured properly.
